The End. And a New Beginning Maybe

Well it's been a long time since I wrote anything here. Time is always against me. Quite a bit has happened since April, some good, some not so good.
It's still not getting any quieter round here, that's for sure.
Just wanted to say thank you to everyone who inspired me to start a journal.
I know I didn't keep it up for long. I should have made more of an effort I know. Maybe I will now in my new home!!!
Thanks to everyone who helped me with my graphics when I first started this journal. (smiling now as I remember trying to get the animation to work) I don't want to name names because I know I will miss someone out. But you know who you are.!! :)
To everyone who kept us in their thoughts and prayers when we needed it most. I really appreciated it.
This small journal has now migrated over to Blogspot. Not quite as I intended. I would have liked it to go to my archives, but no. It went to a new journal, so now I have 2 blogs with the same name. But it doesn't matter it's still with me and it's still my little bit of space, my memories and I wouldn't want to lose it.
I don't want to leave here. I like it here. I've met a lot of people I like here. But I've also found new friends over on Blogger.
Thanks also to AOHell. We have had a love/hate relationship. Without them I wouldn't have met all you wonderful people and all the new people I'm going to meet in my new home.
One other thing. I'm not going to let AOL delete this small space of mine. I won't give them the satisfaction. I created it. I will delete it myself, before the deadline.
How stupid to get upset over just words on a page and a few photos. I feel like I'm leaving home for good. My eyes are filled with tears. No-one has died for goodness sake.!!!!! Get a grip woman!!!
I am sad for the journals of departed friends which will be lost. I often go back to read their posts. I will miss that.
Well I seem to be rambling AGAIN. I seem to be doing a lot of that today.
Thanks again to everyone.
Hugs

Adam is 8 Today

Happy Birthday to Adam.
8 Today.

Today's the day.  Adam is 8.  Did you guess!!!  What gave it away.???
It seems like only yesterday he was born.  Time has flown.  Most of it in a blur.  A lot like today.!!!!

The day didn't start to well.  We had planned to spend the day in the garden or at the park.  It was pouring with rain when I got up.

spongebob.jpg picture by MM7129

Luckily by dinner time the sun was shining and it was quite warm.  We did spend most of the afternoon in the garden, playing swingball and football and stuff.  Even had the bikes out for a while.

Mark came over to give Adam his presents and cards.  Gail stayed at home as she was not too well, suffering from a throat infection.

Adam had a few presents.  A swingball, two music CD's.  A SpongeBob SquarePants movie.  He loves SpongeBob at the moment. A games set, with all different garden games in it. (Quoits, Frizbee, and one of those Velcro ball and mitt thingies.)  A secret journal with a lock, and a black page colouring/tracing pack  with special pens that write with different colours.

He didn't do too bad to say we don't have an extended family.

Adam is in bed now and asleep and I will not be far behind.

Take care everyone.  Hope you all had a lovely weekend too.

Hugs
Carolxx

It started as a bit of a laugh!!!!

I had a bit of a scare last night.
Well to be exact, Me and Laura had a bit of a scare.
What started out as a bit of a laugh, turned into something a bit more sinister.
In the light of a new day I still feel a bit nervy.
It has made me realize that having my personal details out in full view on the net, can make you a bit vulnerable.
So can using my name as my user name.
Maybe I should change a few things.

It all started last night about 6.30pm.
I had a text message on my mobile.
"Hi babe, I've got a new number."
I don't have anyone to call me babe, so I knew it was a wrong number.
I told Laura to text him back and tell him so.
We made a big mistake.!!!!
Thought we'd have a bit of a laugh.
"That's very interesting, but who are you??"  we put.
He came back with "Guess sexy"
I know, I know.!!  We should have stopped then.  We didn't.
We carried on for an hour.
We did at one point think it might be one of my lads having a bit of a joke.
Me and Laura were in hysterics, at one point.
This person said he was going to have a shower.  We asked him if he was playing with his rubber duckie.
I cringe now at some of the stuff we said.
Then he rang.
Oh God!  He actually rang.  More than once.
Laura answered.  She put on this foreign sounding voice. I was laughing in the background.  Laura said he was not.!!!  He sounded serious.!!!!
What were we thinking.  Playing a dangerous game with a complete stranger.
How old am I again!!!!
I asked him where did he get my number from.
He said he already knew it.  WTH.!!!
Was it someone I knew.????  Had I given someone my number.????
The last time he rang and started heavy breathing down the phone, we stopped it dead.  No more texting.  No more phoning.  How stupid were we.???

Suddenly an E-mail came through asking about one of our caravan's.
Too much of a coincidence.  We think so.
We advertise our caravans on a couple of websites.  My contact details are on there.
I think that's where he had my number from.
The way it was written, a mixture of capital letters and baby letters.  We knew it was him.
We had a name and a profile, although no details.
I did reply and gave him the prices and everything, just in case it was genuine.  Didn't want to be rude to a possible guest.  I signed it in Keith's name.  He couldn't reply then.
Everything has been quiet since.
Nothing this morning. No E-mails. Just 870 alerts.!!!  No text messages.
But it scared me so much I made sure our house was locked up tight last night.

I've learned my lesson.
Any more wrong numbers.  Ignore them.!!!!!

Take care.

A Million Pounds!!!

No, I haven't won the lottery!!!!!

sskteagg8x.jpg picture by MM7129

On Saturday we had a day out.
That is Me, Keith and Adam had a day out.
Laura stayed at home because Ade was staying for the weekend.

While we were driving we were listening to Radio Shropshire.
I love Radio Shropshire and it's the only radio station I listen to.
Except when I have Laura with me.  Laura loves Galaxy. Aaaaaaargh.  I hate it.
I always try to change the radio station without her knowing.!!!!

Anyway.  Saturday.  We were listening.
They were doing a phone in.
The question was,

"If someone offered you a million pounds what would be the one thing you couldn't do???"

People were saying the obvious things,

Bungee jumping.
Parachute jumping.
Pot holing.
One woman said she couldn't have her ears pierced.!!!  Because she couldn't bear having her ears touched at all by anyone.
A gamekeeper rung in and said that he couldn't bear to touch a frog or a toad.!!!
Going down in a submarine was someone else' choice. They didn't like the thought of all that water above them.
Swimming in the sea.
Going into the Channel Tunnel, for the same reason.

It started me thinking.  What would be the one thing I couldn't do for a million pounds, or as they say "For all the tea in China.""

I think for a million pounds you could probably do most things.
I'm not sure I could do a bungee jump or a parachute jump.
I'm not sure I could pick up a spider with my bare hand either.
Daddy Long Legs.  I am petrified of those.

So come on.
What wouldn't you do if someone offered you a million pounds?????

Can't wait to hear your answers.

Have a great Thursday.

Nice Matters Award

award.jpg picture by MM7129                NICEMATTERSAWARD.jpg picture by MM7129

I have been given this award by Pam of Almost 40!  Thank you so much Pam.

To say I was shocked and even a bit embarrassed to receive it is an understatement. I so don't deserve it.

But I was so pleased as well.!!!! :)  I went to bed with a smile.

Now I have to pass it on to seven other people.

Now comes the hard bit.

Everyone I would pick has already received an award.

So here goes.......

Jon of Lonestar Concerto. It made me smile just thinking about him. Jon always has a good story to tell and draws you in from the very first word.  I always know I will have a laugh when Jon's alert comes up.

Amy of On Our Own.  This is a private journal, but I'd like to give her this award because I think Amy does a good job with her kids under difficult circumstances sometimes, and I hope this will make her smile.

Leigh of Leigh's world.  I think Leigh is an inspiration to everyone. Leigh is to me anyway.!!!

Paula of Pauline's Country Tales and other Thangs. I always enjoy reading about Paula's everyday happenings. Paula has been a bit under the weather recently, so I hope she is feeling much better.

Deployment Journal. This person also has a positive approach under difficult circumstances and I just enjoy reading about Her and Baby and Hubby.

I would also like to give the Nice Matters Award to everyone who leaves a comment.  I wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for all you "Nice" people out there.

That's more than seven isn't it.????

What the heck.  I don't care.  Everyone deserves it I think.!!!!

Right.   I'm done.

Cup of tea for me I think.!!

Have a good Thursday.

Doctors, and hospitals, and flooding.

                    good-morning.jpg picture by MM7129
I can't believe it's been a week since I made an entry.
This last week has gone past in a flash.
I have been around though.
I haven't caught up much on my alerts.  411 this morning I have.
I have enjoyed looking at all the entries for the photo shoot.  I have to say there are some beautiful places out there.

prettyflowerzline.gif picture by MM7129

Let's see if I can remember what we've been doing.

Adam has been to the nurse twice this week to have his hand dressed.  I was hoping they would leave it uncovered, but apparently it has to stay covered until it has healed.
Last night, somehow, he managed to make his hand bleed under the dressing.  Not sure how he did that as he was in bed at the time.
Adam is going to school tomorrow after he's been to the nurse.  We'll see how he gets on.
I have a photo of his hand.  Sorry if you are having breakfast.  It's not that bad.
It has healed beautifully.

prettyflowerzline.gif picture by MM7129
Tuesday afternoon my neighbour rang to ask if I could look after her two children as she had a hospital appointment.
Obviously I said I would.
Adam spends a lot of time at their house and on many occasions has been invited to stay for tea.
I knew she had broken her elbow, but didn't know she was on her own as her husband was away working in Holland.
She has been unable to drive and so her children have not been to school either.
Anyway I decided to take her to the hospital myself.
She had to return on Wednesday for physio, so I arranged to take her then as well.
This week she should be OK as her husband is returning home.
I will give her a ring though just to check.

Our main road into town was closed for two days this week as the River Severn burst it's banks.
Thursday me and Adam decided to go and have a look.  The flooding was the worst I have seen it around here.  The river has gone down a lot now though.  I'm glad to say.

Friday it was Laura's turn at the hospital for a scan.  Thankfully everything looks OK.  She will however have to return in a few weeks.

Gosh!!! So much doom and gloom this morning.  I feel like Eastenders, very depressing.  Sorry for all you Eastenders fans out there.  Can you tell I don't watch Eastenders.????

prettyflowerzline.gif picture by MM7129

Keith, Adam and me went to a pantomime on Friday evening with a group from the village.
It was Little Red Riding Hood.
I think I can say that we all enjoyed it.
It was performed by a group of amateurs.  And I do not mean that to sound disrespectful.
They did a magnificent job.
This is a little theatre that has no funding other than donations.
The performers are all volunteers.
This was the first time I had been, but I don't think it will be the last.!!!
Besides their ice-cream was delicious.prettyflowerzline.gif picture by MM7129

The weather this week has been horrible as usual.  Rain, rain, and more rain.  Icy mornings as well.  High winds that tried to rip my hair out.
But yesterday, Saturday, what a change.
It was quite warm.  That elusive orb, the Sun came out.
I had forgotten what it looked like.
It shone all day.
Washing was blowing on the line for the first time in months.  Yeah!!!  I love to see washing blowing on the line.!!!
This morning looks a bit Blahhhh.  Still it is only 7.45am.  It has time to turn nice.prettyflowerzline.gif picture by MM7129

We still have sheep in the field.  I don't know what the lorry was doing, but I don't think it took any.  There are rams in there, so perhaps we may see lambs soon.  I hope so.  I love lambs!!!
lambs.jpg picture by MM7129

Well, I think that wraps it up for now.  I need more tea.
Have a great Sunday.

Adam, Hogging, and Aeroplanes

 <A href="http://journals.aol.co.uk/_do/<div%20style=" center;? text-align: width:480px;>

Sorry the pictures aren't that good.  I tried to put them on AOL pictures.  Couldn't do it.  Any advice form you clever people out there would be much appreciated.  Thank you.

It's been a bit busy here over the last few days.
I seem to have been out all day every day.
Makes it hard to get updates done.

Plus I have to let other members of the household use the computer if only for a couple of minutes.  I tend to hog it you know.!!:)
Don't I Laura.???
computers.jpg picture by MM7129

Adam's appointment at the hospital went extremely well.
His burns are already starting to heal.  They do look horrible though.
The doctor said they were only superficial burns and within the next two weeks they should heal completely leaving no scars and no damage.
He gave them a good touching and Adam didn't make a sound.
The doctor discharged him from the hospital, and said we only need to see the nurse at the doctors surgery to have the bandages changed.
I am thankful for that for several reasons.
It means that Adam has done no serious damage to himself.
And also that we don't have to do the 2o mile round trek to the hospital any more.
Although saying that Laura is not well at the moment, and I think whatever she has is going to need hospital treatment.
It never rains but it pours sometimes.!!!
Anyway, the nurse bandaged his hand again,  She bandaged every finger separately so he can now use his hand, which is good. :)
By the time we got home the bandage was already coming off.  We  put extra on just to cover the raw skin that had become exposed.
He is due at the doctors tomorrow (Monday) for a bandage change.  Sorted.
ssklittle5ffe.jpg picture by MM7129

Not really much news to tell.
Still no job at the moment, although I have some phone calls to make tomorrow.  It's the hours I need which is the problem. Oh well, something has to turn up soon. :(

Thursday the weather was so bad here with torrential rain, and high winds.
We, that is to say Laura and me, and Adam, decided to trek over to Simon's house which is like miles away, but it was Luke's birthday, on the 10th January he was 5. And we hadn't seen them to give him his presents.
I only got a couple of miles down the road and the rain was so bad, the wipers just couldn't wipe the water off the windscreen fast enough.
"Ring Simon" I said, "see if it's raining over there"
Simon said it wasn't.  So we carried on.  A mile down the road we drove out of the rain.  Whew.!!!!
We had a good visit, and had a walk around the town where we used to live.
It was dark when we arrived home and Keith was already home from work.  He was not best pleased that I was not in when he got home.  And we have known about it ever since.  he can be mean when he's annoyed.

Friday was appointment day, we also went to the Argos to get a few things for the caravan.
They didn't have anything we needed because the new book was coming out on Saturday.
We gave up.
I did however buy a travel cot and a bedguard from Mothercare.
I am indeed getting down my list.

Saturday we went back to Argos and did manage to get hairdryers, a healthy grill thingy and an iron.  Everything else was out of stock. WTH.  It was a new book for goodness sake.!!!
Adam spent his pocket money on 2 new games for his PSP. Lara croft and a taxi game.

Keith did want to go to Wales, but I decided we couldn't really afford the petrol, and to be quite honest I think it is too early to start taking things up there.  Keith is still not best pleased with me.  Oh well, luckily I have broad shoulders.

I decide to have a ride out instead to Cosford Air Museum.
It's free admission and you can spend quite a few hours there looking at all the old aeroplanes.
They have a new exhibit about the cold war, which I hadn't seen yet, and I knew Keith wanted to see it too.  He wouldn't come.
OK.
Don't then.
We went anyway.
There is also a science bit in there with exhibits which you can play with.
Adam always likes this bit, and of course the shop.  Adam likes that bit as well.
I took some photos but everything was so huge.  They didn't come out very well.
Laura bought Adam a few bits and pieces from the shop, and we enjoyed a cup of tea for me, and hot chocolate for Laura, and a bottle of pop for Adam in the little cafe they have there.
All in all a very enjoyable afternoon.

Ade isn't here this weekend so we have to fend for ourselves in the food department.  I have to say though that our cooking skills are improving thanks to Ade.!! :)
Now all we need is a cleaning up fairy.  Oh well, you can't have everything can you.  ????

Have a great Sunday.

Doctors, monkey and bears.

 sskcountryt7.jpg picture by MM7129
Our appointment went quite well at the doctors yesterday.
The nurse was very nice.
Adam was chattering away to her as he always does.
A couple of things I didn't like.
The nurse didn't ask me or Adam where he was burned, she just assumed it was the palm of his hand, and started to cut the bandage off from the top of his hand.
I just quietly mentioned that it was the top of his hand which was burned.
The nurse looked surprised.  But she turned his hand over and cut the bandage along the palm.
I suppose you would expect it to be the palm if you picked something up which was on fire wouldn't you.???
Anyway, Adam's hand looked much better.  One of the blisters had filled up again, so the nurse burst it and pressed the liquid out.
All the red angry lookingness, is that a word, well you know what I mean, had gone and his hand was just brown with all the dead skin.  I was really pleased with it.
It was re-bandaged and we were done then until Friday when he has to return to the hospital.
The nurse did say though that she would probably see us next week.  So it sounds like he might have the dressings on for a while longer.
The nurse did try to leave his thumb free, but I wish she hadn't really.  It left a raw blister showing which I wasn't happy about, and the edge of the bandage was going to rub it.  I did point this out to her, but she said it would be OK.  I know she was only trying to help, and here's me complaining, but I don't want it to get infected.
Anyway when we got home I put an extra bandage round his thumb just to cover it.  So now I am happy.  !!!!  And Adam is happy because now he can at least write and he does like his writing.  Sometimes our house is buried under Adam's paper, pens and folders.  Ahhhhh Bliss.
sskfaeboy5.gif picture by MM7129
I also called into the chemist to buy some verruca killer.  I tried to get it on prescription, but it was no go I'm afraid.  It cost a bomb, for such a small tube.
I just hope it works.

A word of warning though.
Don't ever play Snakes and Ladders or Ludo with a child and a monkey.  They cheat like mad.  They gang up on you and share their turns while your're not looking.
I wouldn't let the monkey play after that.
But I have to say that the bear was no different.  He was cheating as well!!!!!

monkey.jpg picture by MM7129
Not much more to tell really.  I managed to get some washing done, and catch up on some journals.  That's about it I'm afraid.

I think while Adam is still sleeping I might sit here a while longer and catch up some more.
A cup of tea though first.
The first one I bought up with me, I think the milk was off.  Yucccck!!!

Thank you for your continued good wishes for Adam.  I am sure they are working. Thanks again.

Thank you to Sugar for these beautiful tags.

Piece of cake and light mornings.

I am so tired.
I seem to have been running, running, running and getting nowhere the last couple of days.

On Sunday, Adam slept until after 9am. I was glad.  It probably helped him get over the shock.  He seemed fine and wasn't complaining of any pain.  I gave him painkillers anyway.

We hadn't planned to do much on Sunday.
We did go out to visit Keith's Aunty and Uncle who we had already planned to meet up with.  Personally, I think we should have stayed in, but I have to say I did enjoy the visit. We haven't seen them for ages, and it seems we only meet up these days for funerals. We came away with a slow cooker which Aunt Chris was gonna throw away, and a deep-fat fryer as well.  I've never owned a deep-fat fryer, they say they aren't healthy.  But I have to say they cook food fast.  Don't know though if we will continue to use it.  We'll see.

Adam did want to go to the Air Museum, but it was pouring with rain, and I was worried he would get his bandages wet. So we didn't go.

You'll never guess what we bought Sunday afternoon.......go on have you guessed yet.???
Another TV. Oh no you might say.  It was OK though.  It was exactly the same as the baby elephant but much smaller, and will fit perfectly in one of the caravans.
It was quite funny really.
To start with we went to the wrong house.
We knocked on the door.  A woman answered.  Keith said "We've come to look at the TV"  She looked at us for a minute as if she was thinking if she had called someone to look at her TV. Then she said "Why what's wrong with it???"  I started to laugh.  I couldn't help it.
By the time we had apologised and got back into the car I was nearly hysterical.
To make it worse the real woman was standing on her drive watching us and laughing as well.
We were all laughing about it all day.

Yesterday (Monday) nothing much going on.
I went into Adam's school to let them know what had happened and to tell them I didn't know when Adam would be back at school.
I posted some mail at the same time.
I had to put Adam into the shower before he went to the hospital to have his bandages changed.
Wasn't that fun.!!!
I sellotaped a bread wrapper over his hand and told him to try and keep his arm out of the water and to hold it up in the air.
It worked anyway.
His bandages did not get wet.
WhileI was drying him. More trouble.
I noticed a verruca on his toe.  Only a small one luckily and hopefully it will be easy to get rid of.
Now we have not been swimming since September I think.
Adam went last Friday with the school.
He also apparently does PE in bare feet.  Could he have caught it that way do you think.???
I thought you could only catch veruccas through swimming.
Does anyone know.???

Yesterday was a long day.  Trying to keep Adam amused.  He can't do much without his right hand.  We've sat snuggled on the settee watching Tom & Jerry for a while.  He was pottering about watching me work. Actually he just bought me a piece of cake.  What a good clever boy you might say.  I thought so too until I realised he had eaten the strawberries off the top first.  You've got to laugh I suppose.

Has anyone noticed that the mornings are getting lighter.  I've just come back from taking Laura to work,  and it seems quite light.

I had better go and get us both dressed.  We don't have to be at the doctors until 1.40pm this afternoon.  Maybe time for a bit of housework.  Or maybe not.!!!:)

I have 332 alerts this morning.  Maybe I'll have time to catch up abit.  If I haven't visited you for a while I'm sorry.

Thank you for all your kind words for Adam yesterday.  I've been reading all your comments to him.  Trying to explain who everyone is. I think he's quite enjoying the attention.  Bless him.  I've given him hugs from everyone.

Well, I hope you all have a good day.
I'm off for a cup of tea.  And probably more Tom & Jerry.
Adam chose the pictures today.  I think he chose great ones.
Thank you Sugar.

Take care

Update on Adam

In himself Adam seems fine.
He hasn't complained really of being in pain.
I am surprised.
Whenever I have had a burn of any sort, they have hurt like crazy.
Maybe it was the Flamazine cream they put on it.

We had to be back at the hospital for half past two Monday afternoon.
It was pouring with rain again.
I had been giving him pain relief all day just in case the bandage had stuck to the burn.

It hadn't.
The nurse was very nice.  She chatted away to Adam all the time.
When the bandage came off I was shocked.
Every finger except for his little finger had the most enormous blister I have ever seen.  The skin round them was red.  Adam's index finger where he had lost all the skin looked like raw meat.
I can't believe it wasn't causing more pain.

The nurse covered it over with a clean piece of cloth while we waited for the doctor.
The doctor didn't touch Adam at all.
He just leaned over and said that he thought it would heal perfectly with no problems.
That they would burst the blisters.
I was thinking No, No. Everyone knows you're not supposed to burst blisters.  But the Doctor said it would feel much more comfortable with the blisters burst.
And they would redress it.
The doctor did ask me how it happened.  I told him.
The doctor asked me if the school would allow him time off. It didn't matter whether the school would let him or not.  He wasn't going to school this week anyway.
Adam never cried.  He did have a bit of a wobbly when the nurse said she was going to burst the blisters with a needle.
She squeezed out all the liquid from the blisters.  You can't tell me that didn't hurt.!!! And washed it with some sterile water.
Re-bandaged it and we were done.

Adam did really well.  I thought.
Adam has to go back to the nurse at our own doctors tomorrow (Wednesday) to have a fresh dressing put on. Then back to the hospital on Friday to be reassessed and fresh dressings.

That's about it.  I won't know any more really until Friday when we have been to the hospital.

I'll leave you with a picture of Adam that I took on Sunday.  I forgot to say that Adam will be 8yrs old at the end of April this year.

I would like to thank everyone for their kind thoughts, best wishes, and for keeping Adam in their thoughts and prayers.  Thank you.  We really appreciate it.

Yesterday....

Is it morning all ready.???
I didn't sleep very good last night.  I think I was just dozing.  Listening for any sound from Adam.  His room is across the landing from ours, but next door to Laura's, so one of us would have heard him.
He is still asleep anyway.  That will have done him the world of good.

Yesterday started so good, but by late afternoon was full of if onlys.!  If only we had gone to Wales like we were going to.!!  If only the phone hadn't rung when it did.!!!  If only we had started cooking those chocolate coins we were going to make.!!!!  If only we hadn't made those paper aeroplanes.!!!!!If only.  If only.  If only.  I could go on all day.  At the end of the day, we left him alone with an open fire. 'Nough said.

I decided not to go out yesterday.  The house is so untidy, I thought it would be a good idea to spend the day cleaning up.
I did start to catch up on my alerts yesterday morning.  Adam was making aeroplanes.  The weather was lovely.  The rain had stopped.  It was sunny.  I thought we might be able to get out on the bikes later.  Ade was here.  Good food.  We were gonna have a nice lazy day.  It didn't happen.

We only really light the log fire when there is someone to sit and watch it, which is what we were doing.   It has a habit of spitting bits out and burning the carpet, plus it goes out very quickly if you don't watch it, so you need someone to keep throwing logs on it. We have a fire guard around it, which was still in place after the accident, so we don't really know how it happened.

The phone rang.  I ran upstairs to use the decent phone.  The ones downstairs don't have a very good signal.  It was another booking.  Keith followed me to see what they needed.
Adam came into the bedroom, no screaming, no shouting.  Just said his aeroplane had flown in to the fire and flown back out and had burnt his hand.
I sort of shoved him into the bathroom, ran the cold tap on to his hand. He said the aeroplane was still on fire on the carpet.  I told him to keep his hand under the cold water and then I quickly ran downstairs to check that the house wasn't on fire.  Nothing.
At this stage his hand didn't look too bad.  Obviously we could see it was a hospital job.  He had lost quite a few layers of skin of his index finger on his right hand,  and there was the beginning of a blister on his ring finger.  By now Laura and Ade were up.  Laura stayed with Adam while I quickly got dressed, collected coats and shoes.  Keith went to bring the car round to the front of the house.
We wrapped Adams hand in a wet towel, and took a bottle of water with us to keep pouring on it as we drove.  It's a half hour drive to the A&E.  It was the longest time you can imagine.
Adam still wasn't crying.  I think he must have been in shock.
When we got to the hospital and saw the triage nurse, and we took the towel off.  I was in shock.  His whole hand was burnt. All of his fingers were blistered, His whole hand was the colour of a tomato.
The nurse gave him some pain relief straight away. She ran cold water into the sink, got a wheelchair and had him sit there with his hand in the water while she took details.
And then we waited, and waited, and waited.
Adam still wasn't crying.  He was worried that they would keep him in overnight.
When we did see the doctor, she didn't believe our story, she kept coming back to ask Adam how it happened, so maybe we might get a visit from child protection services.  I know they have to be careful.
To be quite honest we know it couldn't have happened how Adam said it did.  The fire guard was still in place.  We think his plane did go into the fire, but we think he reached over the guard to rescue it. That's when he got burned.  He put his hand into the fire.  We did ask him, but he got upset, so we just left it.  It's done now.
Anyway the doctor told him to keep his hand out of the water so that it would dry a bit before they dressed it.
Then Adam started crying, screaming, jumping up and down.  His hand must have still been burning, the blistering was still coming up.
We still had to wait half an hour, and to be honest I think if Adam hadn't been screaming we would have been longer.
They gave him some more pain relief, and smothered his hand in Flamazine, and dressed it in Bactigra, melonin, and double wrapped it in bandages.
Adam was still screaming when we came out of the hospital.  He did sleep for a little while on the way home.
We spent most of the rest of the day just cuddled up under a sleeping bag on the settee together.
There is nothing wrong with his appetite.

The doctor was a bit worried about it becoming infected, and skin damage over his knuckles, so we just have to wait and see.
He has to return to the hospital on Monday afternoon to be reviewed.  I hope it will be looking much better by then.

So that's what happened yesterday.
I better go and make a start on the washing and ironing, and maybe get a bit of housework done.  It will depend on how Adam is when he wakes.
Right, a cup of tea first I think. :)

Thank you for all your best wishes and for keeping Adam in your prayers. You don't know how much that means to me. You are the best. I am indeed Blessed. Thank you.

Waiting time: 1 Hour and 20 minutes!!

Just a quick entry tonight.

Adam had an accident today.

Somehow, we aren't sure how exactly, he managed to burn his hand quite badly on the open fire which we had burning today.

We rushed him to the A&E, where we had to wait for an hour and a half before he was treated.

He isn't too bad in himself.  Obviously he was in shock.  The hospital gave him lots of pain relief in a very short time.  He has a very large bandage on his hand.  I've given him some more pain killers, and at least he is sleeping now.

I too, am off to my bed now as well,  just in case he wakes in the night.

I'll do an update tomorrow.

Goodnight.

Rain, Sheep and no job!!

 hello.gif hello image by Rainbows_19
Hope you have all had a good week so far.  I'm sorry I haven't been visiting journals this week.  The house has been chaotic.  Since New Year the phone hasn't stopped ringing, and E-mails have been coming thick and fast.  I'm not complaining mind you, we need the bookings.  :)  I will try to catch up a bit tonight.

Today it is cold.  It's pouring with rain although there is not much wind. It's quite soothing actually sitting here just listening to the rain on the windows.

I went to sign on at the agency this morning.  Unfortunately they don't have any jobs available for the hours I need.  The girl I spoke to was very helpful though and she gave me a few companies to ring direct, which I will do.  I will also try and find some good child care for Adam.  So all in all I was a bit disappointed, but then I knew the hours I need would be difficult.

Do you remember the sheep from a couple of days ago.???  Well, I am not sure if they took any sheep out of the field, or whether they were bringing them in.  Looking in the field yesterday there still seems to be a lot of sheep in there. !!!!!  :)  So I don't know.

Thank you for all your comments on Wednesday.  It got me thinking about the Dyson.
I have to say that it is quite a noisy hoover, but I haven't really got anything to compare it with.
I have had a Dyson for a good number of years, and I have to say it is the best hoover I have ever had, which is why I always replace it with another one.
I have a small hoover, not a Dyson, which I leave in the caravan, but even that is a bit noisy.
This is my third Dyson.
The first one went with a bang after my dog, Scamp, for some reason known only to himself decided to cock his leg up it and peed all over it.  Not good!!!:)  The second one, well what can I say, it was abused.

Yesterday, didn't really do much either.  We went shopping.  We needed some things for the caravan.
Adam needed some new swimming shorts for this morning.  The ones he has are a bit tight, but he has had to manage with them, because we could not find any anywhere.
And believe me we looked.!!!
I was going to look again this morning, but the weather was so horrible and cold, we just came home instead.  I have until next Friday to get him some new ones, so it wasn't that urgent today.

Keith is off work today sick.  Man flu. 'Nuff said.

I thought I would leave you with some photos of the baby elephant.  The photos don't show just how big it is.  But you get the general idea.

Indigo, I would like to thank you for the beautiful comment you left.  It was very much appreciated by both Laura and myself.  Thank you again.

Update:  Since I wrote this entry the wind has got up, rain is still pouring and we have snow falling.  I'm not getting too excited because I know it won't last.

Have a good evening everyone.

Baby elephant and lamb chops.

AFTERNOON.gif Good Afternoon Butterflies image by macra67

I bet that caught your attention didn't it.???

On Sunday, we didn't do very much,  Just a bit of shopping.  We did go to the local tip and got rid of a load of rubbish.  When we came home, we realised that we had left my old hoover behind.  Oh well, it will have to wait until next time.

I didn't tell you did I, that I had to have a new hoover.  A couple of days after we had had the new carpet down, I came to hoover it and my hoover gave an almighty bang, and just gave up.  It was a bit on the old side, maybe five years old or so.  Not very old you may say, but it had been battered a bit.  It fell down the stairs twice. No, I didn't drop it.!!!  It fell all by itself.  No.  Honestly.  One minute it was standing on top of the stairs, and the next we heard an almighty crash, and when we looked it was lying in the hall.  So I suppose it's lucky it's lasted this long.  Anyway I bought a new one.  Another Dyson, but an uptodate one.  It's lovely.  For a hoover.!!!  ;)

A baby elephant.  What can I say.

We have been looking for a couple of TV's to put in our caravans.
At the moment they only have small portables in there.
They are just to small.
Keith saw a 32in TV advertised in the newspaper.
We rang them.  "Come and have a look" the man said.  We did.
Well,!!!  I am not joking. it was the size of a baby elephant.
Plus it had a very bad scratch down the side.  Yes, it can be got out, but not good enough to put in a caravan.
The man left us to decide.
We both, that is Keith and I, decided, yes it was just too big.
It was a bargain at only £100 for the TV and the stand.  But we couldn't really use it.
The man came back, and I heard my husband say "will you take £80" for it.  WTH.
I glared at Keith with one of those looks that says. "What the hell are you saying."
I should have spoke up LOUDLY, I know.
I didn't.
You can tell how big it was, we had to put the back seats down in the back of the car to fit it in.
It took two of them to carry it.
I'm sorry, I've laughing now just remembering how funny it was.  I should have had a video camera.  I would have made a fortune.
So now I have this great big telly in my living room, and we have decided to take our own TV to the caravan instead.
We still have to get another one yet.!!!
I think I will take Laura with me instead next time.!!!!  :)

Adam went back to school on Monday.
The new bus driver is very nice and friendly.
He took good care of the kids getting on.  Checked their seatbelts and made sure they were buckled in properly.
This is what we like to see.
We are trusting this driver with our most precious gifts. He better take good care of them.
I followed him to school.  His driving seems OK.  For now.

I have an interview with an agency on Friday.  They had some jobs advertised, so I rang and they asked me to go and see them.  So hopefully I might have a job for Monday.  Wish me luck.

Not much on today.  I have bought some garden furniture.  For the caravans.  I've bought four garden chairs and a table, a barbecue, a parasol and two cast iron bases for just over a £100.  A bargain.  In the sales.

I pulled up outside the house.  There was a big truck parked at the edge of the field.  I knew what that meant.  They had come to collect the sheep, which I have been watching for the past few weeks from my bedroom window, while I'm on the computer.  It was sad.  The sheep came trotting up to the van. They didn't need herding on there, they just walked on.  I suppose they have gone to market and will probably be lamb chops on someone's plate.  They haven't taken them all though.  I can still see a few in the field.  I wonder if the van will come back for them.???

Well, that's about it for now.

Hope you all have a good Wednesday.
