Christmas shopping, and an update.

 

First of all I'd just like to say thank you for all your comments.  You are all very kind.

 

 

 

Not much news on the job front at the moment.  Keith did have an interview yesterday, but the younger guy got the job instead.  Grrrr.

No matter something will turn up I'm sure.  I suppose the younger guy needed a job as much as Keith did.  So I'm not really annoyed about it, I was just kidding.

 

 

Well I managed to move that darn bed, on my own.  How I did it without knocking  Laura's table over and knocking her telly off, I do not know.  The trouble was the bedroom I needed it in, you can only get to it by going through Laura's bedroom.  Anyway it's in there now, and made up ready for any visitors. :)

 

I've managed to do a lot of theChristmas shopping today. :)

Most presents are bought now.

Bobby who's two, he has a Bob the Builder talking digger. Luke who is four, he's got a bucket of Play Doh with shapes.

Bought both my son's and my daughter-in-laws presents, just a few little gifts to get.

 

Adam was going to have a PSP for Christmas.  He wanted a Wii, but we couldn't pass up the PSP, he's played on Ade's every time he's been here, and i'ts kept him amused.  We managed to get a package of ten games, ear phones, cleaner, charger, two cases and the PSP for £160 a bargain, unfortunately Adam was with us when we bought it, so we gave it to him.  I KNOW, I KNOW don't say it, I know we are too soft, we should have insisted that it went away for Santa. So now I've had to buy him something else, so at least he will have something to unwrap.

 

Christmas shopping again tomorrow, perhaps the food and Christmas cards.

Can't do too much because Keith and Adam will be with me and they are not shoppers.  I think they should start a creche where you can leave your husbands while you do the shopping.  Keith has a habit of just wandering off, and then we can't find him.  Very annoying.

 

Adam is off to the school Disco tonight, so I had better go get him ready.

Good  Morning  everyone.

 

 

This is not the entry I was planning on making this morning.  But as you know things change.

 

Yesterday Keith was made unemployed.  This close to Christmas he may not find any work.  I am a bit annoyed because me and Laura have been telling him for weeks to get in touch with the agency to find him something else.  But he hung on in there in the hope that work would come in.  For weeks they have had no work.  It has been so bad that they have been playing football in the factory, and some of the lads have just sat in their cars with the heaters running because there was no heating in the factory.

 

Keith has never been out of work before since he stated working at 17yrs old, so I know he will find something probably before Friday.  They have told him he can stay till Friday, but I think he will finish tonight.  If the worst comes to the worst he will have to sign on for unemployment, which he will hate.  Luckily all our bills are paid for the next month and we have enough oil to last for the winter.  So things are not that bad.  at least we wont freeze, and we have food in the freezer, so we wont starve.  I'm feeling better all ready.  And Christmas is coming and all my family will be visiting.

Right then I had better make a start on the housework.  I have a bedroom to set up today.  The bed is standing on top of the upstairs landing at the moment, not sure how I am going to move it through one room to get it into the bedroom where I need it, but I'm sure I'll manage.

Family Visit

 

Good morning everyone

 

 

I've had a really good weekend.   My eldest son Mark who is 33yrs old, and his girlfriend Gail came to visit yesterday.  We got to do a bit of catching up, as we haven't seen them for a few weeks, due to us travelling every weekend.   Marks car broke down a few weeks ago, and the garage told him he might need a new engine.  Not good news I'm afraid.  They are using Gail's car at the moment. 

 

They loved our new bikes which we had bought to try and loose some weight, as we have all put weight on since we moved to the country.   I think it's because we have to drive everywhere, nowhere is in walking distance.   It's 7 miles to the nearest shop as we don't have a little village shop anymore.   It's 5 miles to the nearest school for Adam, so he goes on the school bus every day.

 

Mark and Gail live about  16 miles away from us now which doesn't sound that far, but when we only used to live like 5 mins away from each other before it's quite a way for us, especially now with the price of petrol, and my car which is very thirsty.

 

Ade has gone home now. We are sad. We've got to cook for ourselves for the rest of the week.  :(

 

I have to say he is an excellent cook and it was very nice to have a weekend off from cooking.  On Saturday he and Laura cooked us Kentucky Chicken, not too spicy, as me and Adam do not like spicy food, but it was perfect.  On Sunday they cooked us roast pork, roast spuds, two different veggies, and mashed potatoes and lovely thick gravy.  Yuuuumy.  I love thick gravy!!!!  I even mopped the gravy up with lovely crusty bread!!!!! 

 

All in all we had a fantastic weekend.

 

The weather is a bit yucky at the moment, and sooooo cold even with the heating up full, I still have the shivers. I hope I am not catching Adam's cold.

Adam is off school today because he woke up all croaky yesterday and sniffing and full of catarrh.  So a day at home in the warm snuggled in a sleeping bag for him.

 

No snow though yet. We had a bit of snow last week but nothing since, lots of frost and rain though.

A Quiet Weekend

Good morning everyone.

 

I woke this morning feeling happy, all bubbly inside, so full of energy I can't tell you.  I was up at 7am which is quite early, to say I didn't get to bed until 1am.

 

My bubbliness was short lived how ever when my better half asked me if I wanted a bacon buttie for breakfast.  Yes I said.  Half an hour later, no bacon in sight, I asked him where my bacon buttie was.  Oh I've eaten it he says, I thought you said no!! :(  His saving grace however was the fact that he did share with Adam.

 

We had a beautiful sunrise.  The sky was bright red in the sky and just lit up all the beautiful colours of the leaves on the trees.  I really must get some batteries for my camera.

 

This weekend is the first weekend we have not gone to Wales.  We have a couple of caravans which we rent out for the season. So nearly every weekend finds us going over to Wales to check everything is OK and to clean ready for the next guests.  The season is finished now and I can rest for a couple of months before I have to start again.  So I've been really looking forward to this weekend.

 

I took Adam shopping, bought him a small gift from Hawkins Bazaar. I love this little shop, it has all those funny, and extraordinary gifts that I used to see when I was a child.

 

We also went to the local park.  Sorry no photos.  No batteries.

It was bitterly cold though, and very muddy, we ate a few doughnuts and took a stroll, explored a little, had a good time.

 

I really went to town to try and get a scratch removed from Adam's playstation game.  Unfortunately the scratches were too deep, but the shop tried and didn't charge me for it.  So it looks like buying a new game because we never got to finish it.  Adam doesn't care, but it so annoys me if I don't finish a game.

 

I'll probably go online and look for a cheap one.

 

Well I can smell my dinner cooking. Ade is cooking our dinner tonight.  I think I will keep him here.  Cooking is not my favourite pastime.

Peace and Quiet.

It is so quiet in this house tonight you can practically hear a pin drop!! Bliss.

Me and Laura picked up Ade at the train station this afternoon, and God Bless him he brought his PSP with him.  We have not heard a peep out of Adam all evening. But what are we going to do when Ade goes home on Sunday????? :(

I think I know what Santa might be bringing to our house this Christmas. :)

Me and Laura went shopping today.  Laura bought some Christmas presents, me I just browsed. I really must make a start on Christmas shopping next week. 

About a month ago we got up one morning to find an inch or two of water covering our living room floor.  The cause a burst radiator.  We have, or should I say did have a wooden floor in there.  It was a bit like parquet flooring. You know the one with proper wooden blocks. The hot water from the radiator lifted most of it up.  Luckily we do not have to pay for it to be re-done as we rent at the moment.  Unfortunately we do not know when they are coming to re-do the floor.  So we can't really put up our Christmas decorations at the moment.  I think it's time to hurry them up a bit.

The weather here has turned really cold today and they have forcast temps of -5 degrees tonight, and possibly snow tomorrow.

The birds were very hungry today and we seem to have a glut of sparrows at the moment.  We also have squabbling starlings, regal robins, beautiful blue tits, and coal tits, gold finches, green finches,and a bull finch comes as well.  There is a sparrow hawk who flies down and sits on the table, we very rarely see him catch anything. Recently we have seen a wood pecker as well.  It took me half-an-hour to fill all the seed holders.

I think it's time to make a cup of tea and get Adam into bed. 

I want to watch I'm a celebrity tonight. And I also have 53 alerts to read.

Nothing in particular.

It was very cold and frosty this morning.  Our cars were white over.   The sun did make an appearance though, and very pretty it looked out, with the sun shining on the leaves,  I will have to get some new batteries for my camera and take some photos.

Well, we were going shopping today, me and Laura, but she had to work instead.  so it was cleaning up for me today.  What fun you may say.  Oh yes I love cleaning.  Not!!! But I did make an effort.

We moved to this house in September last year. It still looks like we moved in yesterday.  As soon as I get straight, I find more stuff and it's back to square one.

Tomorrow me and Laura are definately going shopping.  I'm not sure for what.  I think Laura wants to make a treasure box for Baby Alb and I think this is a good idea.  Ade, her boyfriend is coming to stay for the week-end tomorrow and I have to pick him up from the train station.

It's the first time they've seen each other since it happened.  Although they talk constantly on the phone.   We've done a lot of crying and we've done a lot of laughing this week,  both of which are good for Laura at the moment. 

That's all for today. I'm going to bed. All this cleaning up has made me tired.:)
